Earn 85,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.

Our Take

Mid-tier Marriott card. The 50k free night cert can pay for the fee on a single stay at a Cat 5 property, but Hyatt is a more valuable program for most people, consider that card first.

Key Benefits

  • 50k free night cert
  • Gold status
  • 6x at Marriott
  • Platinum at $60k spend

All Benefits

  • $250 annual fee on the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card, charged in the first billing cycle with no first-year waiver, per the Chase Pricing & Terms disclosure on the product page
  • Welcome offer: earn 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening, with the bonus posting up to 8 weeks after qualifying; at Marriott Bonvoy's 0.7c/pt valuation the welcome bonus is worth roughly $595
  • Earn 6X Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 spent on qualifying purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy when paid directly to the property with the Bountiful card
  • Earn 4X Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 on the first $15,000 in combined annual calendar-year purchases at grocery stores and at restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services); the 4X rate is delivered as 2X base + 2X category bonus, and after the $15,000 combined cap purchases in these categories revert to the 2X base rate
  • Earn 2X Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 on all other purchases with no cap, so the card is a 2X catch-all on non-bonus spend
  • Stacking Bonvoy member earn at Marriott properties: cardholders also receive 10X Bonvoy base points as a Marriott Bonvoy member plus 2.5X (25%) Gold Elite bonus on base points, taking total earn on direct Marriott spend with the Bountiful card to 18.5X Bonvoy points per $1 at most participating brands
  • Additional 1,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per eligible paid stay at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties when the stay is purchased directly with the Bountiful card; capped at 1,000 bonus points per eligible stay with no annual cap published
  • Free Night Award after $15,000 in calendar-year purchases on the Bountiful card: a one-time bonus each calendar year, valid for a one-night stay at a property with a redemption level at or below 50,000 Bonvoy points (at Marriott's 0.7c/pt valuation, a 50K-point cap implies up to roughly $350 of hotel value; Chase quotes a 'typical' value of about $250)
  • Free Night Awards earned on the Bountiful card expire 12 months from issuance, are non-transferable, cannot be combined with cash, and may be topped off with Marriott Bonvoy points from the cardholder's account at redemption per standard Marriott Free Night Award rules; resort fees and incidentals still apply
  • Automatic complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status each calendar year while the Bountiful account is open and in good standing, delivering a 25% bonus on Bonvoy base points earned during stays, enhanced room upgrade subject to availability, 2 p.m. priority late checkout subject to availability, and a welcome gift (points or amenity) at participating brands
  • 15 Elite Night Credits deposited automatically into the cardholder's Marriott Bonvoy account each calendar year (and within 60 days of account opening for new cardmembers), counting toward Marriott Bonvoy elite-tier thresholds (Silver 10 nights, Gold 25, Platinum 50, Titanium 75, Ambassador 100 nights + $23,000 qualified spend)
  • No foreign transaction fees on purchases made outside the United States, so the card is usable internationally on Marriott stays without any currency-conversion surcharge
  • Refer-a-Friend: earn 40,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points for each friend approved for an eligible Marriott Bonvoy credit card via the cardholder's referral link, up to a maximum of 200,000 bonus points per calendar year
  • Baggage Delay Insurance: reimburses essential purchases (toiletries, clothing) when a covered passenger's baggage is delayed more than 6 hours by a common carrier, up to $100 per day for a maximum of 5 days, when the common-carrier fare is charged to the Bountiful card
  • Lost Luggage Reimbursement: covers up to $3,000 per covered traveler for repair or replacement of checked or carry-on baggage lost, damaged, or stolen by a common carrier during a covered trip; New York residents are limited to $2,000 per bag and $10,000 per trip aggregate
  • Trip Delay Reimbursement: if common-carrier travel is delayed more than 12 hours or requires an overnight stay, reimburses unreimbursed expenses such as meals and lodging when the common-carrier fare is charged to the Bountiful card
  • Purchase Protection: covers eligible new purchases for 120 days from the date of purchase against damage or theft up to $500 per claim when the purchase is made with the Bountiful card
  • Authorized users at no additional annual fee, with all authorized-user spend pooling into the primary cardmember's Marriott Bonvoy account and counting toward the $4,000 / 3-month welcome-spend requirement and the $15,000 / calendar-year Free Night Award threshold
  • Chase Offers: targeted statement-credit and bonus-point promotions for purchases at select merchants, activated in the Chase mobile app or online account and available across Chase consumer credit cards including the Bountiful
  • Marriott Bonvoy points earned on the Bountiful card do not expire as long as the cardholder's Bonvoy account has any qualifying earning or redemption activity at least once every 24 months
  • Marriott family rule on welcome offer: cardholders are ineligible for the welcome bonus if they currently have or had any other Marriott Bonvoy consumer cobrand (Marriott Bonvoy Amex, Bonvoy Bevy Amex, Bonvoy Brilliant Amex, legacy SPG Amex, or Bonvoy Bountiful) within the last 30 days, applied/were approved in the last 90 days, or received a welcome/upgrade bonus on those cards in the last 24 months; Chase Marriott consumer cards (Boundless / Bold / Premier / Premier Plus) carry their own 24-month family-rule restrictions
  • Earn Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status after $35,000 in calendar-year purchases: Not offered on the Bountiful card per the Chase product-page disclosures; the $35K-spend Platinum threshold is the headline benefit on the higher-tier Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card, while the Bountiful caps its automatic status at Gold Elite
  • $300 annual statement credit on Marriott purchases: Not offered on the Bountiful card; the Chase Bountiful product page does not document any annual property, dining, or travel statement credit (the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express carries a $300 Marriott property credit, and the Bevy Amex carries a $50 statement credit, but neither benefit is part of the Bountiful)
  • Lounge access (Priority Pass, Centurion, or Marriott-branded lounges): Not offered on the Bountiful card; airport-lounge access on the Marriott Bonvoy cobrand portfolio is reserved for the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express (which includes Priority Pass Select)
  • Global Entry / TSA PreCheck application-fee statement credit: Not offered on the Bountiful card per the Chase Pricing & Terms; this benefit is bundled with premium Chase travel cards (Sapphire Reserve, Ink Business Preferred / Premier) rather than the Marriott cobrands
  • Cell phone protection: Not offered on the Bountiful card; the Chase Bountiful Guide to Benefits does not list cell phone protection, unlike Chase's Ink Business cards and several competing Chase consumer cobrands
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver as primary coverage: Not offered on the Bountiful card; it carries only the standard Visa secondary auto rental CDW (after the cardholder's personal auto policy pays first inside the U.S.), in contrast to the primary CDW on Chase Sapphire Preferred / Reserve and Ink Business Preferred
  • Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption insurance: Not offered on the Bountiful card per the Chase Travel & Purchase Coverage disclosure (which lists only Baggage Delay, Lost Luggage, Trip Delay, and Purchase Protection); cardholders relying on trip cancellation coverage should book common-carrier travel on Chase Sapphire Preferred / Reserve / Ink Business Preferred instead
  • Premium Wi-Fi / enhanced internet access at Marriott properties: Not offered on the Bountiful card; cardholders receive standard Marriott Bonvoy member-tier complimentary Wi-Fi at participating hotels (the same benefit any free Bonvoy member receives), while upgraded 'premium' or 'enhanced' internet access is reserved for the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex
