Editorial take: Capital One Venture Rewards
The simplest travel card in the game. Flat 2x on everything plus transfer partners means you don't have to think, just swipe. Great for people who don't want to chase bonus categories.
Free during beta. Plus launches at $12/mo or $99/yr on July 1. Annual is locked for 12 months during beta.
Both are travel travel cards. The Capital One Venture Rewards comes from Capital One at $95/yr; the Capital One Venture X from Capital One at $395/yr. Below: side-by-side specs, an opinionated verdict, and the FAQs people actually ask before applying.
Both cards come from Capital One and target travel spenders, so the choice usually comes down to whether you'll use the premium-tier benefits. The Capital One Venture X costs $300 more per year, only worth it if you'll actually use the upgraded perks.

The simplest travel card in the game. Flat 2x on everything plus transfer partners means you don't have to think, just swipe. Great for people who don't want to chase bonus categories.
The best value premium travel card. $300 travel credit, Priority Pass, 10,000 anniversary miles, and a massive transfer partner list, all for $395. It's hard to beat.
TL;DR. Same currency, same transfer partners, same 2x on everything. Venture ($95) is the entry tier with a $100 Global Entry credit and no lounge access. Venture X ($395) adds a $300 travel credit, 10k anniversary miles (worth roughly $185), Priority Pass with unlimited guests, Capital One Lounges, 10x on Capital One Travel hotels, and 5x on Capital One Travel flights. The Venture X effective fee after credits and anniversary miles is roughly negative $85, making it arguably the better deal even for casual travelers.
The three dimensions that actually decide it. First, fee math. Venture X's $300 travel credit plus 10k anniversary miles roughly equal $485 in value, exceeding the $395 fee. Venture's $95 fee has no offsetting credit beyond Global Entry. Second, lounges. Venture X has them; Venture does not. Third, household. Venture X allows free authorized users with full lounge access. Venture does not.
Real customer scenario for each. If you travel more than once a year, Venture X is the right choice because the math nets out negative after credits. If instead you have unstable income and want a no-pressure $95 card to keep open long-term, Venture's lower fee makes it lower-risk in lean years.
The trap to avoid. Choosing Venture "because it is cheaper" without doing the math on Venture X's credit. The $300 travel credit applies to almost any travel purchase including the Capital One Travel portal. If you take one trip a year, you almost certainly can hit $300 in travel spend.
