British Airways Galleries First Lounge

The best oneworld First-class lounge globally. LHR T5 is the marquee location, with Cabanas and Concorde Room sub-lounges.

The British Airways Galleries First Lounge at LHR T5 is the most extensive oneworld First class lounge in the world, and it earns that distinction through a combination of scale, soft product, and rare sub-lounge access that most airport lounges cannot match. The marquee T5 location splits into north and south wings, with the Concorde Room operating as a separate sub-lounge exclusively for BA First class ticket holders. Cabanas, private day-rooms available by free reservation, add a layer of comfort that puts this property in a category well above the typical carrier flagship lounge. If you are working toward a premium oneworld redemption and wondering whether the on-the-ground experience justifies the points cost, the Galleries First at LHR T5 is a meaningful part of that answer.

On the soft product side, dining is plated and served at the table rather than cafeteria-style, with a rotating menu that leans toward British and continental dishes prepared to order. Laurent-Perrier Champagne is included at no additional charge, along with a full bar and premium spirits. Shower suites are available and bookable; the Elemis travel spa offers treatments that are offered at an extra charge, so factor that into your planning if you are hoping for a complimentary pre-flight massage. The Concorde Room, again restricted to same-day BA First ticket holders, carries a noticeably higher service level than the main lounge floor, with dedicated table service and a quieter environment.

Access follows a clear hierarchy. A same-day BA First class boarding pass is the most direct entry. Oneworld Emerald status (including BA Executive Club Gold and AAdvantage Executive Platinum on qualifying oneworld international itineraries) also unlocks access. No credit card, regardless of annual fee or points currency, provides a direct path into Galleries First; lounge cards such as Priority Pass are not accepted here. Guest policies allow one guest per eligible passenger, though this can vary by location and congestion. The JFK T7 and LGW versions of the lounge are physically smaller and offer a narrower food and beverage selection, so temper expectations if you are not transiting through Heathrow.

There are situations where seeking out this lounge is not worth the routing. If your itinerary involves only a short-haul oneworld flight and you hold no elite status, you will land in the Galleries Club rather than Galleries First, which is a respectable but clearly different product. Similarly, if your connection at LHR is tight, the security queue at T5 and the walk between terminals can consume more time than a lounge visit returns. At JFK T7, the lounge is functional but modest relative to what several other carriers offer in the same terminal complex, so an oneworld Emerald member on a non-BA metal flight might find a partner carrier lounge more convenient depending on gate placement.

Arrive 30 to 60 minutes earlier than your usual pre-flight buffer. Booking a Cabana in advance through the BA website requires a same-day First class ticket, and those private rooms do fill up, particularly on peak transatlantic departure banks in the mid-morning and early afternoon. The lounge experience here is substantive enough that arriving with minimal dwell time leaves real value on the table.
