Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.

Our Take

5x on flights is class-leading at this price point. Wells Fargo added 6 transfer partners in 2024 (Flying Blue, Avianca, BA Avios, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Choice), making this card meaningfully better than before. Worth considering over Sapphire Preferred for frequent flyers.

  • 1x point per $1 on all other net purchases (base rate; cash advances and cash equivalents do not earn points)
  • $50 annual airline statement credit, automatically applied after a single qualifying airline purchase of $50 or more posts to the account each cardmember year (verified on issuer product page; no airline allowlist beyond merchant category code)
  • No foreign transaction fees on purchases made outside the United States (confirmed on the issuer product page)
  • Cellular Telephone Protection: up to $600 per claim against damage, theft, or unintended separation, less a $25 deductible, with a maximum of two paid claims per 12-month period and a $1,000 annual aggregate; coverage activates the first day of the calendar month following the month you first paid your cell phone bill with the Autograph Journey; does NOT cover lost or mysteriously disappeared phones (verified per issuer footnote 9 and Guide to Benefits)
  • Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection: up to $15,000 per trip in reimbursement for prepaid, non-refundable lodging, flights, and activities if the trip is canceled or cut short for a covered reason; requires the entire trip to be paid with the Autograph Journey (verified per issuer footnote 6)
  • Lost Luggage Reimbursement: up to $1,000,000 in coverage when you purchase your airline or common carrier ticket with the Autograph Journey, in the event a common carrier loses or misdirects checked or carry-on baggage (verified per issuer product page protection benefits section)
  • Baggage Delay Reimbursement: reimbursement for essential purchases when checked bags are delayed by a common carrier (verified per issuer footnote 5)
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance Services: 24/7 referral assistance for legal, medical, and other emergencies while traveling away from home (cardholder pays for actual goods and services); 1-800-992-6029 in the U.S., 1-804-673-1675 collect from outside the U.S. (verified per issuer footnote 8)
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver: secondary coverage for theft and collision damage on eligible rental vehicles when you pay the entire rental with the Autograph Journey and decline the rental company's CDW (standard Visa Signature default; Wells Fargo did not upgrade this to primary on the Journey)
  • Roadside Dispatch: pay-per-use roadside assistance through Visa with no membership required (towing, tire change, jump start, lockout service, fuel delivery, standard winching); 1-800-847-2869 (verified per issuer footnote 10)
  • Emergency Cash Disbursement and Card Replacement: Visa cardholders can receive an emergency cash advance or replacement card typically within one to three business days after issuer approval; standard cash advance fees and interest apply (verified per issuer footnote 11)
  • Visa Signature Concierge Service: complimentary 24/7 concierge to help with tickets to sports and entertainment events, travel booking, dinner reservations, and similar requests (verified per issuer product page Visa Signature privileges section)
  • Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection: at participating properties booked through visasignaturehotels.com, benefits include best available rate guarantee, automatic room upgrade on arrival when available, complimentary in-room Wi-Fi, $25 food/beverage or similar property credit, late 12 PM checkout when available, and complimentary continental breakfast
  • Zero Liability Protection: cardholders are not held responsible for unauthorized transactions when reported promptly (verified per issuer footnote 12)
  • Wells Fargo Rewards points transfer: 1:1 transfer to 7 participating travel loyalty partners (Aer Lingus AerClub, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Avianca LifeMiles, British Airways Club, Choice Privileges, Iberia Club, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club), confirmed in The Points Guy Wells Fargo Autograph Journey review (updated 2026); transferable to British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus means access to all three Avios programs
  • Wells Fargo Rewards baseline redemption value of ~1 cent per point for statement credit, gift cards, merchandise, and travel booked through Wells Fargo Rewards; transferable airline partner redemptions can drive 1.5-2.0+ cents per point on premium-cabin sweet spots (per The Points Guy Autograph Journey review valuation)
  • Contactless EMV chip card with tap-to-pay support; Visa Signature network tier with $5,000 minimum credit line per Visa Signature underwriting rules
  • Free monthly FICO Score access for Wells Fargo Online customers (per issuer footnote 15; using does not negatively affect credit score)
  • Part of the Wells Fargo points ecosystem: Journey is the only Wells Fargo consumer card that unlocks transfer-to-partner redemptions, but cardholders can pool points from Active Cash, Autograph, and Attune cards into the Journey to use those transfers (per Bankrate Wells Fargo Autograph Journey review)
  • Airport lounge access: Not offered (no Priority Pass, no Wells Fargo lounge, no airline lounge access; this is a $95 AF transferable-currency card, not a premium-lounge card; The Points Guy explicitly flags this as a downside vs the Chase Sapphire Preferred/Capital One Venture tier comparison)
  • Global Entry / TSA PreCheck / NEXUS application fee credit: Not offered on Wells Fargo Autograph Journey (not enumerated on the issuer product page or Guide to Benefits; this credit is typically reserved for $250+ AF travel cards)
  • Hotel or airline elite status: Not offered (no complimentary elite tier with any hotel or airline program is included)
  • Anniversary points bonus or high-spend milestone bonus: Not offered (no anniversary points top-up and no spend-based milestone bonus on the Journey)
  • Purchase protection, extended warranty, and return protection: Not offered on Wells Fargo Autograph Journey (the issuer protection benefits section enumerates only Cell Phone Protection, Lost Luggage, Trip Cancellation/Interruption, Baggage Delay, Travel and Emergency Assistance, Roadside Dispatch, Emergency Cash Disbursement, Auto Rental CDW, Concierge, and Luxury Hotel Collection; purchase security and extended warranty are conspicuously absent)
  • Travel accident insurance: Not offered (not enumerated on the issuer product page or in the protection benefits tab)
  • Direct-to-airline-and-hotel transfer breadth: Limited vs competitor flexible-currency programs. Wells Fargo Rewards currently has 7 transfer partners total compared with 13+ on Chase Ultimate Rewards, 18+ on Amex Membership Rewards, 15+ on Capital One Miles, and 16+ on Citi ThankYou (TPG Wells Fargo Autograph Journey review explicitly notes 'fewer transfer partners than other issuers'); notably missing: any Star Alliance flagship transfer partner like Aeroplan, United, or Singapore KrisFlyer
  • Statement credits beyond the $50 airline credit: Not offered (no Uber credit, no dining credit, no streaming credit, no hotel portal credit, no broad travel incidental credit; the Journey is a one-credit card vs the multi-credit Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve tier)
