Travel & purchase protections
10- Trip cancellation and interruption insurance: up to $10,000 per covered traveler and $20,000 per trip for pre-paid, non-refundable travel expenses including passenger fares, tours, and hotels, when canceled or cut short by a covered reason (sickness, severe weather, etc.)
- Trip delay reimbursement: up to $500 per covered traveler for unreimbursed expenses (meals and lodging) when common carrier travel is delayed more than 12 hours or requires an overnight stay
- Baggage delay insurance: reimburses up to $100 per day for up to 5 days for essential purchases like toiletries and clothing when checked baggage is delayed more than 6 hours
- Lost luggage reimbursement: up to $3,000 per covered traveler for lost or damaged checked or carry-on bags and personal property (per OMAAT Sapphire Preferred review documenting the card's Guide to Benefits)
- Auto rental collision damage waiver: primary coverage when you decline the rental company's CDW and charge the entire rental to the card, reimbursing up to $60,000 for theft and collision damage on most rental vehicles with an MSRP of $125,000 or less (primary in the US and abroad on this card; the standard Visa Signature default is secondary inside the cardholder's country of residence, but Chase explicitly upgrades CSP to primary)
- Roadside dispatch: pay-per-use roadside assistance with no membership required (provided by Visa Signature)
- Travel and emergency assistance services: legal and medical referrals and access to other travel and emergency assistance services (cardholder pays for actual goods and services obtained)
- Travel accident insurance: provided as a Visa Signature card benefit while you are a cardmember (coverage limits per the Sapphire Preferred Guide to Benefits)
- Purchase protection: covers eligible new purchases for 120 days from the date of purchase against damage or theft, up to $500 per claim and up to $50,000 per account
- Extended warranty protection: extends the time period of the manufacturer's U.S. warranty by an additional year on eligible warranties of 3 years or less, up to 4 years from the date of purchase
