Earn a $250 rewards bonus after spending $1,000 in eligible net purchases within the first 90 days of account opening; the bonus is credited to your rewards balance within 1-2 statement billing cycles after the spend requirement is met; existing and previous U.S. Bank Cash Rewards accounts do not qualify for this one-time bonus; the bonus does not apply toward account upgrades and may not be combined with any other bonus offer; offer is subject to credit approval and U.S. Bank has historically run this card at $200 in slower periods, so $250 is the current public welcome offer as of May 2026

Key Benefits
All Benefits
- New cardmember welcome offer: $250 rewards bonus after spending $1,000 in eligible net purchases within the first 90 days of account opening; bonus posts to your rewards balance within 1-2 statement billing cycles after meeting the threshold; existing and previous U.S. Bank Cash Rewards accounts do not qualify; the bonus does not apply toward product upgrades and cannot be combined with other bonus offers (this is currently U.S. Bank's standard public Cash+ offer, with $200 occasionally appearing as a lower-tier variant)
- $0 annual fee with no fee for authorized users; the card has no monthly fee, no enrollment fee, and no fee for paper statements or online access
- 5% cash back on the first $2,000 in combined eligible net purchases each quarter across two 5% categories you choose; purchases beyond the $2,000 combined quarterly cap drop to the base 1% rate; if you fail to choose categories for a given quarter all purchases earn the base 1% rate (no category penalty, just no 5% multiplier without enrollment)
- 12 quarterly 5% category choices include: TV, internet and streaming services; cell phone providers; fast food; electronics stores; sporting goods stores; department stores; ground transportation; home utilities; movie theaters; gyms/fitness centers; furniture stores; and select clothing stores (the exact 12-category list is set by U.S. Bank and may rotate or be revised on a quarterly basis at the issuer's discretion)
- 2% cash back on one everyday category you choose from gas stations and EV charging stations, grocery stores, or restaurants; the 2% category has no quarterly spend cap so there is no ceiling on 2% earnings (this is a meaningful structural advantage over Citi Custom Cash, which caps top-category 5% at $500/cycle but doesn't offer an uncapped 2% tier)
- 1% cash back on all other eligible net purchases with no spending cap and no enrollment required; 1% also applies to spend in your chosen 5% categories beyond the $2,000 quarterly combined cap and to all spend if you do not select categories for the quarter
- Cardmembers must enroll category choices each quarter through usbank.com or the U.S. Bank Mobile App; categories selected in a prior quarter do not roll over automatically and must be re-selected (or changed) before the start of each new quarter to earn the 5% and 2% rates; category options may change on a quarterly basis at U.S. Bank's discretion
- Grocery store and supermarket purchases at discount stores/supercenters (such as Target and Walmart) and at wholesale clubs (such as Costco and Sam's Club) earn only 1% cash back regardless of category selection because those merchants are coded under their primary merchant category, not as grocery stores
- Gas station and EV charging station purchases made at discount stores/supercenters, wholesale clubs, and grocery stores/supermarkets earn only 1% cash back for the same merchant-category-code reason; standalone gas station chains (Shell, Exxon, BP, Chevron, etc.) and dedicated EV charging networks code correctly for the 2% rate
- 5% cash back on prepaid air, car, and hotel reservations booked through the U.S. Bank Rewards Travel Center using your Cash+ Card (this stacks as an additional 4% on top of the 1% base earn rate, so the effective rate on Travel Center bookings is 5%); no annual cap on this 5% travel center earning, but bookings must be prepaid through the U.S. Bank portal to qualify
- Cash back is earned as cash rewards at a 1:1 ratio (1% cash back = $0.01 per $1 spent) and never expires as long as the account remains open and in good standing; rewards do not have a tiered conversion or a points-based intermediary - earnings appear directly as a cash rewards balance
- Redemption options for cash rewards: statement credit applied to your Cash+ Card account, direct deposit to a U.S. Bank checking or savings account, direct deposit to a non-U.S. Bank checking or savings account (added in recent years), paper check by mail, or U.S. Bank Rewards Card (a Visa prepaid card loaded with your rewards); redemptions can be requested for any amount with no minimum redemption threshold (U.S. Bank removed the historical $25 minimum)
- Real-Time Rewards: opt-in service that lets you redeem cash rewards instantly via text message at the point of purchase; after making an eligible purchase with the Cash+ Card you receive an SMS offering to redeem cash rewards to cover that purchase (reply 'REDEEM' to apply the redemption), provided you have enough cash rewards to cover the entire transaction amount; available through the U.S. Bank Mobile App
- 0% introductory APR on purchases for the first 15 billing cycles from account opening; the 0% intro APR on balance transfers also runs for the first 15 billing cycles but applies only to balance transfers completed within 60 days of account opening; after the intro period a variable APR (currently approximately 18.74% to 28.74% based on creditworthiness and the Prime Rate) applies
- Balance transfer fee: 5% of each transfer amount with a $5 minimum (this is on the higher end of issuer balance transfer fees - Chase Freedom Unlimited and Citi Custom Cash both have intro 3% balance transfer fees, so Cash+ is less competitive as a pure balance transfer vehicle)
- Cash advance fee: 5% of each cash advance with a $10 minimum, plus the cash advance APR (which is significantly higher than the purchase APR) accrues from the day of the transaction with no grace period
- Foreign transaction fee: 3% of each purchase transaction made outside the United States or in a foreign currency (this makes the Cash+ a poor choice for international purchases - the U.S. Bank Altitude Connect and Altitude Reserve both charge $0 foreign transaction fees and are better U.S. Bank choices for travel abroad)
- Late payment fee: up to $40 per late payment; U.S. Bank has historically charged a penalty APR on missed payments though this is subject to your specific cardmember agreement (always check the most current pricing terms before applying)
- Visa Signature network benefits (when the card is issued on the Visa Signature tier rather than the standard Visa Platinum tier, which depends on your approved credit line): Visa Signature Concierge for 24/7 personal assistance with travel, dining, and entertainment bookings; Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection with complimentary in-room Wi-Fi, $25 food/beverage credit, room upgrade at check-in (when available), and late checkout at participating properties; Visa Signature Offers and Sonic Drive-In, ShopRunner, and various Visa merchant promotions
- Mobile wallet support including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay, and Garmin Pay; contactless EMV chip card with tap-to-pay functionality; U.S. Bank Mobile App provides real-time transaction alerts, instant card lock/unlock, virtual card numbers via U.S. Bank ShieldVault, and FICO Score tracking through the CreditView Dashboard
- $0 fraud liability: you are not held responsible for unauthorized charges made with your card or account information; 24/7 fraud monitoring by U.S. Bank with text/email/phone alerts for suspicious activity
- ExtendPay Plan: convert eligible purchases of $100 or more into fixed monthly installment payments with a fixed monthly fee and no separate origination fee (no interest charged on ExtendPay balances, just a flat monthly fee); useful for managing large purchases over time while still earning cash back at the time of purchase
- Free FICO Score: complimentary FICO Score through the U.S. Bank Mobile App and online banking dashboard at no charge to cardmembers
- Cash+ Visa Secured Card upgrade path: U.S. Bank also offers a secured version of the Cash+ Visa for cardmembers building or rebuilding credit, with the same 5%/2%/1% earnings structure but a refundable security deposit required
- Transfer partners: Not offered - the U.S. Bank Cash+ earns cash back, not transferable points, and U.S. Bank does not offer Real-Time Rewards transfers to any airline or hotel loyalty programs; the only U.S. Bank cards with airline/hotel transfer access are the Altitude Reserve (limited Real-Time Rewards 1.5x on mobile wallet) and the Altitude Go/Altitude Connect with rewards that redeem for travel via the U.S. Bank portal rather than transfers
- Airport lounge access (Priority Pass, U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve lounges, Centurion Lounge, Capital One Lounge, etc.): Not offered (Cash+ is a $0 annual fee cash-back card; lounge access on U.S. Bank cards is reserved for the Altitude Reserve which carries a $400 annual fee)
- Travel insurance benefits including Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Trip Delay, Baggage Delay, Lost Luggage Reimbursement, and Travel Accident Insurance: Not offered on the Cash+ (these benefits are reserved for U.S. Bank's premium travel cards such as the Altitude Connect, Altitude Reserve, and the now-closed-to-new-applicants Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite)
- Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver: Not offered as standard on the Cash+ (some Visa Signature variants of the Cash+ historically included secondary auto rental CDW, but U.S. Bank has removed this benefit on most current-generation Cash+ cards; the Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Sapphire Preferred offer secondary and primary auto rental CDW respectively if this benefit matters to you)
- Cell phone protection: Not offered on the Cash+ (the Wells Fargo Active Cash, Chase Freedom Flex, U.S. Bank Altitude Connect, and Capital One Venture X are better choices if cell phone protection via auto-pay-the-bill is important to you)
- Purchase Protection / Extended Warranty / Return Protection / Price Protection: Not offered as standard on the Cash+ (these benefits were removed from most U.S. Bank consumer cards in benefit-reduction rounds; the Chase Freedom Flex and Capital One Venture X still offer purchase protection and extended warranty)
- Global Entry / TSA PreCheck application fee credit, annual travel credits, dining credits, hotel elite status, or other premium credits: Not offered (Cash+ is a $0 annual fee cash-back card; these premium perks are reserved for the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve)
