Rewards mechanic: instead of cashback or transferable points, the 2% and 1% earned outside Target accrue as Target Circle Card Rewards that are redeemed on future Target purchases (or, depending on program iteration, applied as a 5% discount at checkout) — rewards are tied to the Target ecosystem and cannot be redeemed for statement credit, cash, or general travel
Perks & memberships
1- MembershipFree standard shipping on most items at Target.com when you pay with your Target Circle Card — no minimum order required, versus the standard Target.com policy that requires $35+ orders or Target Circle 360 membership for free shipping (per Target's shipping policy and Circle Card benefits)
Travel & purchase protections
1- $0 fraud liability: cardholders are not held liable for unauthorized charges reported promptly, consistent with Mastercard Zero Liability Protection on the Mastercard network and TD Bank's cardholder protections

- Card identity and rebrand: the product formerly marketed as the Target REDcard Credit Card was rebranded to the Target Circle Card in 2024 to align with Target's broader Target Circle loyalty program; existing REDcards transitioned to the Circle Card branding while keeping the same account and benefits
- Mastercard network acceptance: the Target Circle Card Mastercard version (the credit card) carries the Mastercard logo and is accepted everywhere Mastercard is accepted worldwide — not just at Target — making it usable as a general-purpose credit card unlike the Target Debit Card or store-only REDcard variants which only work at Target
- Three card variants exist under the Circle Card umbrella: the Target Circle Card Mastercard (credit, Mastercard network, accepted anywhere), the Target Circle Card Credit Card (store-only, Target purchases only), and the Target Circle Card Debit Card (links to your existing checking account, store-only at Target); only the Mastercard version offers the 2% restaurants/gas earn rate
- 5% off every Target purchase in-store and on Target.com — applied automatically at the register or at checkout on Target.com when you pay with your Target Circle Card, with no caps and no category rotations (per Target's Circle Card benefits page)
- 5% off excludes a defined list of items including prescriptions, clinic and optical services, previous charges and payments, Target Optical purchases, gift cards (Target gift cards and Visa/Mastercard gift cards), wireless protection program purchases, deposits required by Target Optical or Pharmacy, and Target store credit card purchases (per the Target Circle Card Rewards Program agreement)
- 2% off (in the form of a 2% earn back) at restaurants and gas stations when you use the Target Circle Card Mastercard outside of Target — this earn category is exclusive to the Mastercard version of the card and does not apply to the store-only credit card or the Target Debit Card
- 1% off (1% earn back) on all other purchases made outside of Target with the Target Circle Card Mastercard — applies to general spend on the Mastercard network that does not qualify for the 5% Target or 2% restaurants/gas rates
- Free shipping exclusions: a small set of items including some oversized or freight-shipped products may not qualify for the Circle Card free shipping benefit; check the product page shipping details before checkout
- Extra 30 days for returns: Target Circle Card holders get an additional 30 days beyond Target's standard return window to return eligible items purchased with the card (so Target's standard 90-day window extends to 120 days for cardholders, and shorter windows for electronics and entertainment items are extended by 30 days as well — per Target's return policy for Circle Card members)
- Exclusive Circle Card cardholder offers: access to special cardholder-only deals, early access to select Target sales events (including Black Friday and select Target Circle Week promotions), and bonus offers that stack on top of the 5% discount in some promotions (per Target's Circle Card benefits page and ongoing cardholder communications)
- Issuer and credit reporting: the Target Circle Card Mastercard is issued by TD Bank USA, N.A. (Target sold its credit card portfolio to TD Bank in 2013); TD Bank reports account activity to the major U.S. consumer credit bureaus, so on-time payments help build credit history (unlike the Target Debit Card, which does not report to bureaus because it is not a credit product)
- Credit application path: applications are submitted at target.com/c/redcard or in-store at checkout and are underwritten by TD Bank USA; approval is generally easier than for premium travel rewards cards, making the Circle Card Mastercard accessible to applicants with fair-to-good credit who shop at Target regularly
- Foreign transaction fee: the Target Circle Card Mastercard charges a foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency or processed outside the United States (consult the cardholder agreement for the exact percentage — typically in the 3% range for store-affiliated TD Bank-issued cards); this makes the card a poor choice for international travel spend versus no-FTF travel cards
- Mobile wallet and management: the Target Circle Card supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay; cardholders manage their account, view statements, and pay bills through the Target app (which integrates Target Circle Card, Target Circle loyalty, and Wallet features) or through TD Bank's RedCard portal
