Earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.

Our Take

Aeroplan is one of the best Star Alliance programs for sweet-spot redemptions. This card is a great way to earn Aeroplan miles directly, plus the UR transfer option gives flexibility.

Key Benefits

  • 3x on Air Canada + dining + grocery
  • Free checked bag
  • Companion pass
  • UR transfer

All Benefits

  • Current public welcome offer: earn 75,000 bonus Aeroplan points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening (offer is not available to current Chase Aeroplan cardmembers or to previous cardmembers who received a new cardmember bonus for this card within the last 24 months; bonus points post 6-8 weeks after qualifying)
  • $95 annual fee charged on the primary card; the Chase Aeroplan Card is the only US-issued co-branded Air Canada Aeroplan credit card
  • 3X Aeroplan points per $1 spent on purchases made directly with Air Canada (purchases of gift cards, car rentals, hotel bookings and other third-party partner products booked through aircanada.com, onboard Wi-Fi, and Air Canada tickets purchased through travel agencies, discount sites, vacation clubs, tour operators, or non-airline travel packages are explicitly excluded from the 3X rate)
  • 3X Aeroplan points per $1 spent at grocery stores (issuer category, no annual cap on the 3X rate)
  • 3X Aeroplan points per $1 spent on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services (no annual cap on the 3X rate)
  • 1X Aeroplan point per $1 spent on all other purchases (no spending caps and no rotating categories)
  • 500 bonus Aeroplan points for every $2,000 you spend in a calendar month, up to a maximum of 1,500 bonus points per calendar month (effectively a 0.25% Aeroplan-point bonus on top of base earn for the first $6,000 of monthly spend; bonus points post up to 8 weeks after qualifying and credit to the calendar month of the transaction)
  • Points are automatically transferred from Chase to your Aeroplan account at the end of each billing cycle (this is the only US credit card that earns directly into Aeroplan; no manual transfer step is required, unlike Chase Sapphire/Ink Ultimate Rewards which must be transferred 1:1 manually). Points do not expire as long as the card account remains open; if the card account is closed, expiration of already-transferred Aeroplan points is governed by the Aeroplan Program General Terms and Conditions
  • Automatic Aeroplan 25K Elite Status for new primary cardmembers for the remainder of the calendar year you open the card and for the entire following calendar year (not available to current or previous cardmembers who received this benefit in the last 60 months; Aeroplan 25K Status is non-transferable)
  • Maintain or re-qualify for Aeroplan 25K Status in subsequent years by spending at least $15,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year (status earned by spending posts within 6-8 weeks and is good through the following calendar year)
  • Upgrade to Aeroplan 35K Status by spending at least $75,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year (granted for the remainder of that year and the entire next year)
  • Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) for primary cardmembers: 5,000 SQC deposited annually (within first February of each year you hold the card), plus 10,000 SQC after spending $25,000 in a calendar year and another 10,000 SQC after spending $50,000 in a calendar year, for a card maximum of 25,000 SQC per calendar year (the annual cap is shared across all Aeroplan credit cards regardless of issuer; SQC count only toward Aeroplan Elite Status qualification, not toward redemptions or Million Mile Status)
  • Free First Checked Bag on Air Canada: primary cardmember and up to 8 additional travelers on the same reservation (max 9 travelers total) each get a free first checked bag up to 50 lb when traveling on a flight operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, or Air Canada Express, and checking in at the designated counter (gate-checked bags do not qualify; benefit does not apply if check-in is with another airline or if the bag is already free via Aeroplan status or fare class)
  • Preferred Pricing on Aeroplan flight rewards: as the primary cardmember you can often book Air Canada flight rewards for fewer Aeroplan points than non-cardholders (applies only to Air Canada flight rewards, not to partner airline awards)
  • $120 Global Entry / TSA PreCheck / NEXUS application fee statement credit every 4 years, automatically applied within 1-2 billing cycles after charging the first eligible application fee to the card (only purchases made directly with DHS / CBP / TSA or authorized enrollment providers qualify; third-party application services are not eligible). Note: the issuer credit limit is $120 (the actual NEXUS fee), not the $100 figure sometimes cited in older summaries
  • 10% Ultimate Rewards transfer bonus: if you also hold an eligible Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards (e.g., Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, Ink Preferred), you receive a 10% bonus on Ultimate Rewards-to-Aeroplan transfers of 50,000 or more points in a single transaction, capped at 25,000 bonus Aeroplan points per calendar year (the bonus is awarded by Aeroplan and posts within 7 days; transfers into authorized-user or non-primary Aeroplan accounts do not qualify)
  • No foreign transaction fees on purchases made outside the United States (Chase example: avoid $150 in fees on $5,000 of international spend)
  • Pay Yourself Back with Aeroplan points: redeem Aeroplan points for a statement credit toward eligible purchases (rotating categories that have historically included travel, dining, grocery stores, and gas stations) made on the Aeroplan card within the past 90 days; redemption values are shown at the transaction page prior to redemption and credit posts to the account within 3 business days, appearing on a statement within 6-8 weeks
  • Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance: reimbursement of up to $1,500 per covered traveler and $6,000 per trip for pre-paid, non-refundable passenger fares if the trip is canceled or cut short by sickness, severe weather, or other covered situations (per the card's Guide to Benefits and Chase product page)
  • Trip Delay Reimbursement: listed on the Chase product page as a card benefit (specific dollar limits and triggering delay duration are governed by the Guide to Benefits delivered after account opening)
  • Baggage Delay Insurance: listed on the Chase product page as a card benefit (covers essential purchases such as toiletries and clothing when a common-carrier-checked bag is delayed; specific per-day limit and triggering delay duration are in the Guide to Benefits)
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver: decline the rental company's collision insurance and charge the entire rental to the Chase Aeroplan card to get reimbursement for theft and collision damage on most rental vehicles. Coverage is secondary to your personal insurance in the United States and primary outside the US (this is the standard Visa Signature default; unlike Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve, the Chase Aeroplan card has not been upgraded to primary inside the US)
  • Purchase Protection: covers eligible new purchases against damage or theft (standard Chase implementation per the Guide to Benefits; New York residents are subject to a 90-day coverage window)
  • Extended Warranty Protection: extends the time period of the manufacturer's U.S. warranty (standard Chase Visa Signature implementation per the Guide to Benefits delivered after account opening)
  • Complimentary DashPass membership for 12 months when activated for the first time with the Chase Aeroplan card between 02/01/2025 and 12/31/2027 (covers both DoorDash and Caviar; auto-renews monthly at the then-current rate after the complimentary period), plus up to $10 off per calendar quarter on one qualifying non-restaurant DoorDash order while enrolled (subtotal-only discount, no rollover)
  • Zero Liability Protection: you are not held responsible for unauthorized charges made with your card or account information (does not apply to use of the account by an authorized user with the primary cardmember's approval)
  • Visa Signature network benefits: the Chase Aeroplan card is a Visa Signature product, providing access to the standard Visa Signature benefit suite (roadside dispatch, travel and emergency assistance services, and other issuer-optional benefits per the card's Guide to Benefits)
  • Air Canada Priority Boarding: Not offered as a separate cardholder perk on the Chase Aeroplan Card itself (Air Canada Priority Boarding on Air Canada flights is delivered through the automatic Aeroplan 25K Elite Status that the card grants new cardmembers, not as a standalone card benefit; once you lose 25K status, you lose priority boarding)
  • 25% discount on Air Canada in-flight purchases (food, beverages, and onboard Wi-Fi): Not offered as a separate Chase Aeroplan Card benefit; this perk historically appeared on legacy US Aeroplan cards from prior issuers but is not listed on the current Chase Aeroplan product page or Pricing & Terms
  • Lounge access (Maple Leaf Lounge, Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, or any other airport lounge): Not offered on the Chase Aeroplan Card; this card does not include any complimentary airport lounge access, in contrast to higher-tier US cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve (Priority Pass + Sapphire Lounges) and Amex Platinum (Centurion + Priority Pass)
  • TSA PreCheck-only statement credit: Not offered as a TSA-PreCheck-specific perk; the card does include a Global Entry / TSA PreCheck / NEXUS application fee credit of up to $120 every 4 years (so PreCheck is reimbursable, just not as a separate dedicated benefit)
  • Penalty APR: Not offered (per Chase Aeroplan Pricing & Terms, this card does not impose a penalty APR for late or returned payments; the regular variable purchase APR continues to apply, which is more consumer-friendly than cards that hike to a 29.99% penalty rate)
  • Annual travel credit (broad spend-anywhere): Not offered (unlike Chase Sapphire Reserve's $300 annual travel credit, Chase Aeroplan has no general annual travel statement credit; the only credits are the $120 / 4-year NEXUS-Global Entry-PreCheck application credit and ad-hoc Pay Yourself Back categories)
  • Cell Phone Protection: Not offered on the Chase Aeroplan Card; this is a benefit gap vs. Chase Ink Business cards and several other premium Chase products that do include cell phone protection
  • Authorized users at no additional annual fee (Chase does not list a per-authorized-user fee on the Aeroplan product page; authorized-user spend earns points into the primary cardmember's Aeroplan account)
