Earn 4X Best Western Rewards points per $1 on qualifying purchases at Best Western hotels that participate in the Best Western Rewards program. The card's own rewards terms add that qualifying transactions are identified by merchant category code with Best Western as the merchant of record, so a Best Western room booked through a third party or an online travel agency does NOT earn the 4X rate.
- 2xeverything else
Earn 2X points per $1 on all other qualifying net purchases. Balance transfers, cash advances, fees and interest charges are not purchases and earn nothing.

6- Elite statusAutomatic Best Western Rewards Gold Elite status for as long as the account is open and in good standing. Allow 30 days after account opening for the status to post. If you already hold Platinum, Diamond or Diamond Select, the card does not downgrade you. Gold is the tier this card confers; it is NOT Platinum, which is the tier its sibling Premium card confers.
- No foreign feesNo foreign transaction fees. Best Western's pricing footnote for this card states a foreign transaction fee of None.
- Free nightNo Free Night Award. The up to two Free Night Awards each anniversary belong to the sibling Best Western Rewards Premium Visa Signature Card, not to this card. This card's anniversary benefit is the 10,000 point bonus above.
- RedemptionPay with Points: Best Western states a 5,000 point minimum redemption, each additional 1,000 points redeemed worth $5 toward a qualifying room rate, and a maximum of 20,000 points per booking. Best Western publishes no cents per point figure, and its own headline "Pay with Points value = $200" for 40,000 points does not follow from its own increment rule: 40,000 points is the 5,000 point minimum plus 35 further increments of 1,000, which comes to $175. Treat the $200 as Best Western's marketing figure rather than a computed redemption value, and note that the 20,000 point per booking cap means 40,000 points cannot be spent on one reservation.
- RedemptionRedemption options published by Best Western for BWR points include free and reduced cost nights, gift cards and airline miles. Best Western states that redemptions start at 5,000 points and vary by location and date of stay.
- Card networkIssued by First Bank & Trust, Brookings, SD under a license from Visa USA Incorporated, on the Visa Signature network. The program is a Best Western and Mercury Financial co-brand launched 2024-09-17. Mercury Financial is the co-brand program partner and publishes the Guide to Benefits at mercurycards.com; in its own words Mercury "offers credit card products issued by First Bank & Trust, Brookings, SD". Mercury is NOT the issuing bank.
Travel & purchase protections
3- Cell phone protection when you pay your monthly wireless bill with the card, covering the following calendar month.
- Trip delay reimbursement of up to $300 when travel booked with the card leaves you stuck for more than twelve hours.
- Trip cancellation and trip interruption reimbursement of up to $2,000 of non-refundable fare when a trip purchased with the card is cancelled or interrupted.

- Gold is the entry level of the four Best Western Rewards elite tiers. The program's own terms set the ladder at Gold from 5 qualifying nights, Platinum 7, Diamond 15 and Diamond Select 25, and give Gold members a 10 percent point bonus on qualifying nights against 15 percent at Platinum, 30 percent at Diamond and 50 percent at Diamond Select. Complimentary water at check in is granted at every elite level, Gold included, so it is not a Gold differentiator. Holding the card grants the tier without any qualifying nights.
