Earning rates
3- 10xlodging
Earn 10X Best Western Rewards points per $1 on stays and purchases at participating Best Western hotels. The card's own rewards terms add that qualifying transactions are identified by merchant category code with Best Western as the merchant of record, so a Best Western room booked through a third party or an online travel agency does NOT earn the 10X rate.
- 4xgroceries
Earn 4X points per $1 on gas station and grocery store purchases, determined by merchant category code (automated fuel dispensers and service stations for gas; grocery stores and supermarkets for grocery).
- 2xeverything else
Earn 2X points per $1 on all other qualifying net purchases. Balance transfers, cash advances, fees and interest charges are not purchases and earn nothing.
Perks & memberships
4- Free nightUp to two Free Night Awards in each 12 month period: one on the account anniversary after payment of the annual fee, plus a second after at least $10,000 in net purchases in the same period. Per the card's rewards terms the awards are redeemable at Best Western branded hotels in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean Islands, are issued 6 to 8 weeks after qualification, are sent to the email on the Best Western Rewards account, and are valid for one year from the date they are sent.
- Elite statusAutomatic Best Western Rewards Platinum Elite status for as long as the account is open and in good standing. Allow 30 days after account opening for the status to post. If you already hold Diamond or Diamond Select, the card does not downgrade you. Platinum is the tier this card confers; it is NOT Diamond.
- No foreign feesNo foreign transaction fees.
- Card networkIssued by First Bank & Trust, Brookings, SD under a license from Visa USA Incorporated, on the Visa Signature network. The program is a Best Western and Mercury Financial co-brand launched 2024-09-17. Mercury Financial is the co-brand program partner and publishes the Guide to Benefits at mercurycards.com; in its own words Mercury "offers credit card products issued by First Bank & Trust, Brookings, SD". Mercury is NOT the issuing bank.
Travel & purchase protections
3- Cell phone protection when you pay your monthly wireless bill with the card, covering the following calendar month.
- Trip delay reimbursement of up to $300 when travel booked with the card leaves you stuck for more than twelve hours.
- Trip cancellation and trip interruption reimbursement of up to $2,000 of non-refundable fare when a trip purchased with the card is cancelled or interrupted.
