Earn 40,000 Membership Rewards bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of Card Membership (~$800 at 2¢/point transfer-partner valuations; standard public offer, occasionally elevated via CardMatch or referral).

Benefits and fees last verified May 2026against the issuer's published terms.

Our Take

Hard to justify vs. Chase Sapphire Preferred at $95 with stronger earning. The CLEAR credit is nice but only useful if your airport has CLEAR lines. Most people are better off with Sapphire or Amex Gold.

Not enough context

Not enough context to say

Nothing we know about this card and about you decides it either way. The unknowns below are the reason, and each one names what would settle it.

What we still do not know (4)

  • spend-categories
Which categories get the most spend each month, for example dining, groceries, travel or gas? We hold no category spending data at all, so we will not guess one.
  • held-cards
Which cards are currently carried? Without that list we cannot say whether this one duplicates a card already held.
  • holdings
Which points balances are held? Without them we cannot say whether this card extends the transfer options already available or repeats them.
  • tracked-objectives
Which trip is being saved toward? A tracked trip is what turns this card's currency into a concrete gap it could close.

Ecosystem fit

NO_HOLDINGS_EVIDENCE

We hold no balances or card list for you, so we cannot compare this card's programs against anything.

Reaches 18 programs from amex-mr.

Portfolio overlap

HOLDINGS_UNKNOWN

We do not know which cards you hold, so we cannot say whether this one duplicates anything.

Saved-trip relevance

NO_TRACKED_OBJECTIVES

You track no saved trip, so there is no goal for this card to move toward.

ASK_SPEND_CATEGORIES

We need to ask before we can answer this

Which categories get the most spend each month, for example dining, groceries, travel or gas? We hold no category spending data at all, so we will not guess one.

We hold no category spending data for you, and we will not estimate one. Until this is answered, this card's earn rates are facts about the card, not a fit for you.

  • 3x
    lodging

Earn 3X Membership Rewards points on eligible travel: airfare booked directly with airlines, hotels, cruises, guided tours, car rentals, campgrounds, and vacation rentals (no portal-booking requirement, unlike many competitors).

  • 3x
    travel

Earn 3X Membership Rewards points on eligible transit purchases worldwide: trains, taxis, rideshare (Uber, Lyft), ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways, a category most travel cards do not cover.

  • 3x
    dining

Earn 3X Membership Rewards points on restaurants worldwide, including takeout and delivery in the U.S. (no foreign-dining exclusion, unlike Chase Sapphire Preferred's worldwide-but-no-delivery-abroad terms).

  • 1x
    everything else

Earn 1X Membership Rewards point on all other purchases, pair with a Blue Business Plus (2X everywhere up to $50K) to fill the non-bonus gap.

Statement credits

3
  • $209
    CLEAR Plus CreditYearly

Up to $209/year statement credit toward a CLEAR Plus membership.

  • $209
Up to $209 in annual statement credits for CLEAR Plus membership when you pay with the Green Card (auto-renewal required; rate refreshed from $189 to $209 in Q1 2026 to match CLEAR's price increase), fully offsets CLEAR's standalone cost.
  • $100
Up to $100 in annual statement credits for LoungeBuddy lounge purchases booked through the LoungeBuddy app/site and paid with the Green Card, covers ~1-2 day-pass lounge visits per year at non-Amex airports.

Perks & memberships

4
  • No foreign feesNo foreign transaction fees on purchases made abroad (saves the typical 3% surcharge), important since Green earns 3X on transit/dining worldwide.
  • Payment flexibilityPay with Points and Pay Over Time flexibility for purchases, useful for spreading large travel bookings.
  • MembershipShopRunner free 2-day shipping membership at participating retailers (enrollment required).
  • ExperiencesAmerican Express Experiences: presale access to concerts, sporting events, and Broadway shows.

Travel & purchase protections

6
  • Trip Delay Insurance: reimbursement up to $300 per trip for reasonable additional expenses (meals, lodging, toiletries) when a covered trip is delayed more than 12 hours due to a covered reason (note: 12-hour threshold is longer than Chase Sapphire Preferred's 6 hours).
  • Baggage Insurance Plan: covers lost, damaged, or stolen baggage up to $500 carry-on and $1,250 checked when the full fare is paid with the Green Card.
  • Car Rental Loss & Damage Insurance: SECONDARY coverage in the U.S. (after your personal auto policy), this is a notable weakness vs. Sapphire Preferred's PRIMARY CDW. Enroll in Amex Premium Car Rental Protection ($12.25-$24.95 per rental) for primary coverage if you want it.
  • Purchase Protection: up to $1,000 per covered purchase, $50,000 per calendar year, covers accidental damage or theft within 90 days of purchase.
  • Extended Warranty: extends the original manufacturer's warranty by up to 1 additional year on eligible items with warranties of 5 years or less.
  • Global Assist Hotline: 24/7 medical, legal, financial, and travel referral assistance when traveling more than 100 miles from home (third-party costs are cardmember's responsibility).

Before you decide, weigh alternatives

Lower-fee cards in the same category. A cheaper card can be the better fit if you will not use enough perks to earn back a bigger fee.
