Waldorf Astoria Park City

Ski-in/ski-out Waldorf in Canyons Village. Best Hilton points play for a serious ski trip.

All hotel properties

The Waldorf Astoria Park City sits slope-side in Canyons Village, giving guests ski-in/ski-out access to one of Utah's largest ski resorts. For Hilton Honors members, that positioning translates directly into points leverage: cash rates during peak ski season routinely run $800 to $1,200 per night, making this property one of the most compelling award opportunities in the entire Hilton portfolio. It is the kind of property where holding the right points currency before you search matters enormously.

Hilton now prices awards on a fully dynamic scale, and Park City reflects that range sharply. The floor sits at 70,000 Hilton Honors points per night, while peak dates can push to 120,000 points per night. Against a $900 cash rate, a 70,000-point redemption works out to roughly 1.29 cents per point (CPP). Against a $1,200 rate at the same point cost, that figure climbs toward 1.71 CPP, which clears our conservative Hilton Honors valuation and makes this one of the strongest resort redemptions in the program. Hitting the saver-range pricing during ski season is the target; the math deteriorates quickly as the award price climbs toward 120,000 points.

The most efficient transfer route into Hilton Honors runs through American Express Membership Rewards, which converts at a 1:2 ratio (one MR point becomes two Hilton Honors points). That multiplier means 35,000 MR points can cover a 70,000-point Hilton night, which is a meaningful compression of the cost. Amex periodically runs transfer bonuses on the Hilton partnership, and confirming whether a bonus is active before moving points can add material value to the transfer. Transfers from Amex to Hilton are one-directional and instant once processed, but they are also irreversible, so verify award availability before initiating anything.

The core watch-out here is seasonality. Shoulder months and summer dates at Park City produce cash rates that drop sharply, often into the $300 to $450 range, at which point a 70,000 to 120,000-point redemption generates well under 0.5 CPP by our models. That is a poor use of flexible currency. Stick to mid-January through late March for the strongest cash-rate compression. Dynamic pricing also means the same calendar week can shift by 20,000 to 40,000 points depending on how far out you search, so checking multiple adjacent date windows is a practical discipline before committing.

One additional variable: Hilton resort fees are sometimes included in award bookings at certain properties, but always verify the fee structure at checkout, as an uncredited resort fee can meaningfully reduce effective redemption value. Book a refundable award night first to lock the rate, then build your flight routing around those confirmed dates. Find space first, then transfer.

Watch-out: Ski-season cash rates make this property a strong points use; summer-shoulder months are not worth points.
