St. Regis Aspen Resort

Ski-in/ski-out Aspen luxury. The highest-cash-rate Marriott property in North America during ski season.

All hotel properties

The St. Regis Aspen Resort sits at the base of Ajax Mountain in the heart of Aspen, Colorado, and it carries the highest observed cash rates of any Marriott property in North America during peak ski season. That combination of ski-in/ski-out access, a category 8 ceiling, and winter demand that regularly pushes nightly cash rates above $2,000 makes this one of the few domestic hotel redemptions where points can genuinely punch at their theoretical ceiling. For Marriott Bonvoy members, the property also unlocks the usual suite of elite-tier perquisites, including lounge access for Platinum members and above, which adds meaningful incremental value at a property where food and beverage pricing is aggressive.

The core points math is straightforward but the spread matters. Saver nights price at 100,000 Bonvoy points; peak nights climb to 130,000 points. Against a $2,000 or higher cash rate, a saver redemption clears 2.0 cents per point (CPP) before you even account for taxes or resort fees absorbed into the award rate. Our Marriott Bonvoy valuation sits at 0.7¢ per point as a conservative baseline, which means a peak ski-week redemption here is running at roughly 2.8x to 3x that baseline. That is the strongest domestic ski redemption we track on the points side. Summer dates are a different story, with award pricing reportedly dropping to the 60,000 to 70,000 point range, but cash rates compress proportionally and the CPP math no longer favors burning points over paying cash.

All three major transferable currencies reach Bonvoy at a 1:1 ratio: American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Points. The routing is fungible on paper, but timing and opportunity cost differ. Chase UR carries our 2.0¢ valuation, so transferring to Bonvoy represents a meaningful step down in theoretical ceiling value. Amex MR carries a similar valuation and the same tradeoff. The case for transferring rests entirely on the specific cash rate you are beating. Watch Amex transfer-bonus promotions to Bonvoy, which have historically appeared once or twice per year and can pad your Bonvoy balance by 20 to 30 percent. Transfers to Bonvoy are instant from all three partners, so you do not need to transfer speculatively; confirm the award dates are available in your Bonvoy account first, then initiate the transfer immediately before the space disappears.

The critical watch-out is the 130,000-point peak cap and the compressed inventory that comes with it. Aspen ski week (late December through early January, Presidents Week in February, and spring break windows in March) is when cash rates spike hardest and award inventory tightens simultaneously. Bonvoy properties control their own award release, and the St. Regis Aspen has no obligation to make award nights available at any rate during sellout periods. Checking availability 12 to 13 months in advance, as soon as the booking window opens, gives you the best odds of finding saver-rate nights during premium weeks. Also confirm the current resort fee structure directly with the property; Marriott awards do not universally waive resort fees, and at this price point those fees can add $50 to $100 or more per night in out-of-pocket costs that your points do not cover.

Book the room first on a refundable rate to lock your dates, then build your flights around it. Find space first, then transfer.
