The 5 Best Business Class Redemptions Under 70,000 Points

Business class on points doesn't have to drain your entire balance. Some of the best lie-flat products in the world are bookable for under 70,000 points one-way — if you know where to look. These aren't theoretical availabilities or once-a-year unicorns. We've booked every single one of these in the past 12 months. Here are our five favorite business class sweet spots right now.

ANA "The Room" — New York JFK to Tokyo Haneda. Cost: 60,000 Virgin Atlantic points one-way. Cash price: $7,000-$9,000. This is the redemption that made us fall in love with points. ANA's The Room on the 777-300ER is a fully enclosed suite with a door, a massive 43-inch lie-flat bed, and Japanese hospitality that makes every other airline feel like a bus. Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Virgin Atlantic at 1:1, search availability on ANA's website, and book by calling Virgin Atlantic. Availability opens roughly 355 days out. Set a calendar reminder.

Qatar Airways QSuites — Dallas DFW to Doha. Cost: 70,000 American Airlines miles one-way. Cash price: $6,000-$8,500. QSuites is the product that reset everyone's expectations for business class. The suite has a sliding door, a lie-flat bed that's genuinely comfortable for a full night's sleep, and the option to create a double suite if you're traveling with a partner. American Airlines releases QSuites award space somewhat regularly from DFW and IAD. Book through AA.com using AAdvantage miles — transfer from Bilt on Rent Day for a potential 100% bonus.

Turkish Airlines Business — Chicago ORD to Istanbul. Cost: 45,000 Turkish Miles & Smiles one-way. Cash price: $3,500-$5,000. Turkish operates a direct widebody from Chicago with a solid 1-2-1 business class cabin and what might be the best catering in the sky. The Turkish lounge in Istanbul is also legendary. At 45,000 miles one-way, this is a steal. Transfer from Citi ThankYou or Capital One at 1:1. Availability is generally good 2-4 weeks before departure — Turkish doesn't release award space far in advance, so last-minute flexibility is your friend here.

Singapore Airlines Business — Los Angeles or San Francisco to Tokyo Narita. Cost: 62,000 KrisFlyer miles one-way. Cash price: $4,000-$6,000. Singapore's regional business class on the 787-10 features their latest seat with direct aisle access and a fully flat bed. The service is impeccable — this is Singapore Airlines, after all. Transfer Chase UR or Amex MR to KrisFlyer at 1:1. Award space opens 355 days out and goes fast on this route, so book early. The Tokyo connection also opens up onward flights throughout Asia on Star Alliance partners.

Avianca LifeMiles — Bogota to Madrid on partner airlines. Cost: 63,000 LifeMiles one-way. Cash price: $3,000-$4,500. Here's one the casual crowd sleeps on. Avianca LifeMiles lets you book Star Alliance business class at rates that undercut what the airlines charge through their own programs. The Bogota-Madrid route can be flown on Avianca's own metal or Lufthansa/SWISS connections, and the availability is surprisingly good. Transfer from Amex MR or Capital One at 1:1. LifeMiles also occasionally runs transfer bonuses, which can drop the effective cost below 50,000 points.

A few pro tips that apply across the board. First, always search for availability before transferring points — transfers are one-way and instant, so you don't want to move 70,000 points to a program and then find out there are no seats. Second, be flexible by a day or two in each direction; award availability is rarely consistent across consecutive days. Third, set ExpertFlyer alerts for the specific flights you want — it'll email you the moment a business class award seat opens up.

The bottom line: you don't need 200,000 points to fly up front. A single credit card sign-up bonus is enough to book any of these redemptions. The Chase Sapphire Preferred's 60,000-point bonus, transferred to Virgin Atlantic, literally gets you ANA The Room to Tokyo. One card. One transfer. One of the best flights on Earth. That's the power of this hobby, and it's available to anyone willing to learn the system.
